One Year Anniversary
Well technically, the one year anniversary of Gangstas & Hugs was August 24th, but who’s counting? Its been an interesting year. And things have changed quite a bit from August 24, 2005. First of all, I wish I had saved screen shots of the old themes and templates the blog used to have. Some of those first ones I went with were just crap. But hey, everybody’s gotta start somewhere, right?
I’ve also learned a whole lot in the last 12 months, not the least of which is how to hide your blogging practices while at work. I’ve also ‘met’ a few people who are also bloggers, albeit only online, whose blogs I’ve really gotten to enjoy, and who are always gracious enough to stop buy Gangstas & Hugs and leave their witty comments.
I promised a few surprises along with the new look of G&H, and I won’t disappoint. The first surprise I’d like to unveil is a whole new set of ‘Categories’. By this I mean there are going to be certain types of ‘regular’ posts you can look forward to. The first of which is going to be tomorrow. For those of you still interested, there’s more after the jump.
I’ll go ahead and blow this one. The new category I’ll be uncovering tomorrow is “Last Year“, in which I will cover a blog post I wrote in the week 12 months prior. This is mainly to make fun of myself for something I probably didn’t think a whole lot about before writing. So go ahead and yuk it up at my expense.
But before that, I’m going to go over some stats (that are only really important to me, but I’ll go ahead with them anyway). According to Sitemeter, here are Gangstas & Hugs’ traffic statistics for the last year:
Total visits: 77,830
Total Pageviews: 126,140
Here are the numbers for the blog itself (as of this writing):
Total Posts: 206
Total Comments: 1,712
And of course this look back just wouldn’t be complete without listing some of the most popular posts from the last year. These aren’t necessarily my favorites, but apparently they became pretty popular with the search engines. After viewing them I’m sure you’ll figure out why.
- Chronic of Narnia - I guess I became one of the few places on the net where you could actually download the movie
- Booty for Miles - OK, this IS actually one of my favorites
- Ding Fries Are Done - I still like this one, but of course I can’t take credit for it
- World of Warcraft “Switch” Commercial - Apparently I posted this video just as it was getting popular, so it started getting links from everywhere
- It Puts the Lotion in the Basket - Another video I can’t take credit for, but still a work of epic proportions
- Booty Implants - You’d think people were getting real porn the way they were linking to this post
- Don’t Judge a Book By It’s Cover - Vroom Vroom!
- Bill O’Reilly Gets Owned - Ahh, I’ll do anything to piss on O’Reilly

Only a year and so many hits… who is your pimp?
That Keyra video is the best thing you’ve ever posted.
Congratulations on your blogiversary! I haven’t been visiting lately, but thought I’d pop in to see how you were doing. I really love the new template!
Robguy: I think I’m my own worst pimp. I try to drum up business for my blog in all the sleaziest parts of town.
JJ: I may have to agree with you.
Tara: Thanks Tara! I’m glad you could stop by again.
Awesome one-year post, Mojo. Congrats on your mighty milestone!
I feel like such a loser for not doing a one-year post on my own blog. But in all honesty? I forgot!
Congrats!!!…
Been two years for me on August 28th…
nicole: Meh, I actually missed it, but I thought I might as well mention the fact that I’ve been spouting off for a whole year. And thanks for the compliment!
Keith: 2 years? Hmmm… I can only hope that I’ll be bale to keep it up that long!
[...] This is a new category that I mentioned would be making an appearance in the next few weeks. The ‘Blog of the Week’ is a tried and true category of its own now! This week’s BOTW is none other than ‘Useless Advice From Useless Men‘. This farcical group of authors always puts a smile on my face with their silly and hilarious answers to questions submitted by their readers. [...]
[...] Not sure about this ‘Last Year‘ category business? Have a look see at the post I announced the new type of post in. [...]
[...] Here’s another one of those post categories I warned you about. Quote of the Week is going to be just that, a quote per week that I deem worthy enough to garner so much attention. It could come from anywhere: a movie, song lyrics, another blog’s post, the mouth of someone I know, etc. You get the idea. [...]
