Politics Schmolitics

I know I’ve written a few times that Gangstas & Hugs isn’t really politically driven. I may post a few thoughts here and there on politics in general, and especially ass munches like Bill O’Reilly and Pat Robertson, but that doesn’t mean I won’t write a little about other bloggers’ great political posts. Here are a few entries that cover issues I believe pretty strongly in, and they all explained them much better than I ever could.

Muslim Cartoon Commentary

From The Gun-Toting Liberal (great name, huh?), takes a very rational approach to explaining why the uproar from the Muslim community over cartoons that may ridicule Islam is basically hypocritical and asking for WAY too much of a fight.

Welcome to Our Shores

From the Omnipotent one himself, the Poobah gives us the low-down on why immigration into this country needs a little overhaul. I’ve written on this a couple times myself, but I think Poobah sums it up very nicely. And for anyone who’s wondering, no I don’t have some racial/ethnic agenda, but I do think that it benefits immigrants and native citizens for them to be here legally.

Moving on…

Devolutionary Thoughts

I’ve long thought that our technological progress as a species has basically stopped evolution in its tracks for us. I think Typebrighter sheds some much needed light on this subject.

All of these blogs are excellent, so if you stop by to read the posts I mentioned, please have a look around and read some more.

Censorship is the foundation to every heinous travesty ever commited under the rule of tyranny. Rights are few. They seem to be disapearing regularly, in the interest of personal safety. Now our freedom of expression is on the political chopping block. Once murdered, we will have lost our freedom to satire. An act that has kept our corrupt government in check for over 200 years

Rev. Nutmeg: I couldn’t agree with you more. Thanks for weighing in.

Seems that private citizens are taking it upon themselves to support the Danes. Here’s an email I received yesterday…

    =================

With the latest outburst of “Moslem Rage” leading to riots, death threats, church bombings and boycotts of Danish goods following the publication of a cartoon, let’s give the Danes a show of support by buying Danish goods.

(Why don’t we ever hear about “Jewish Rage” or “Christian Rage?”)

The Danes went to extraordinary lengths to hide and evacuate the Danish Jews to Sweden in WWII. This is a nation of decent people, and we should stand by them.

Danish dairies are losing millions because of boycotts of their milk; we can make that up to them by buying Danish cheese. They’re famous for Havarti, Saga Blue and Fontina, among others.

Here’s a link to a site showing Danish products: http://www.danishfood.net/

    Some well-known products include:
    Haribo candy
Panda Licorice (I highly recommend it)
Danish Crown hams (I don’t eat much of this)
    Canned mackerel and other fish
Tuborg, Carlsberg, Odense and many other beers
    Cookies and baked goods

Buy your kids a LEGO set if they don’t already have one.

If you’re doing any high-end spending, you can buy Danish furniture or a Bang & Olufsen stereo or TV.

The civilized people of the world must stand together against the irrational, murderous barbarians.

ngregory00: Hmmm… that’s actually interesting that something like that took off this fast. Although, I should have known that every movement now moves at light speed thanks to the internet.

  • ngregory00

Oh yeah. Every movement has an equal and opposite re-movement. You know how it is!

  • ngregory00

One of the women in my office just walked by with a bag of Haribo gummy bears. I’m not thinking she’s involved in “the movement” though…

  • mojotek

Haribo gummi bears? Never even heard of ‘em. Are they any good? Is it worth it it to support those dyke-building people?

  • ngregory00

HAHA! They’re pretty good. You MUST have seen them by now…they come in that gold bag with big, black letters at the top. H-A-R-I-B-O!!!

What do you get if you cross an Irish man with a Gernan?
A man who’s too drunk to follow orders.
