Just a thought: You never really feel as ’significant’ as you do when there are the lights of 3 cop cars behind your Mercury Topaz, as you’re fumbling through your glove box trying to find your proof of insurance.
never fumble for anything with a cop behind you - they might think that you’re digging for a gun. I always keep my hands on the steering wheel in plain sight.. not that I’ve been pulled over that many times ;-)
so, did you get a ticket?
Oh no, it wasn’t me. Just came to me when I saw that type of situation on the way home from work yesterday.
I’m sure the guy had to feel pretty important.
Or never fumble a cell phone (shiny silver) from the floor of your car (it fell when you were breaking) at 4:30AM in your rental Caddy when cops have pulled you over; over a tail light issue.
GM was 5 seconds apart from being sued by my soon-to-become-window. You get headlights and lights for an odometer automatically, but NO TAIL LIGHTS! What a design!

Okay, so you’ve gotta stay calm and keep your hands on the wheel when you’re getting pulled over… But is it okay to try to sneakily put on your seatbelt really slowly without the cops noticing?
rockyjay: Ooohhh… A caddy. My brother got pulled over about once a month when he drove one of those.
JJ: Just don’t make the mistake of thinking he didn’t notice when he first came up and then put it on after he goes back to his car. They get real upset when you act like you had it on the whole time.
