Linkapalooza - 1/5/2007
January 5th, 2007 by mojotek
I’m bringing back Linkapalooza! I used to just have these as daily links that would populate from Del.icio.us directly into the G&H feed. But I figured it would be more fun to allow readers to comment on them in an actual post.
- Underwater CO2 bombs - Google Video
Although this is extremely awesome, I’d hate to think what these kids did to the plumbing of their parents pool. - A Man Down, a Train Arriving, and a Stranger Makes a Choice - New York Times
It takes balls as big as church bells to do something like that for a stranger. - Abandoned Amusement Park
These photos are eerie as hell, but I still love how they look. Makes me think of some Silent Hill for some reason. - Illicit Ohio
Pictures of abandoned buildings and amusement parks from all over Ohio. Awesome and eerie stuff. Makes me want to start my own such site for Kentucky. - Military Airplane Boneyard
I had no idea there were this many planes even in use b ythe military, let alone this many that didn’t work anymore. - News Hounds: Fox News Battering Obama Over Book’s Admissions
If you didn’t already have enough reasons to hate the crap Fox News passes off as journalism. - Praying Mantis Eats Hummingbird (Bird Watcher’s Digest)
Seriously? An insect eats a bird? If we keep destroying the planet the way we are, insectes may be doing the same to us sometimes soon. - The Post-It Note Jaguar
Either this is someone who deserved it, or they must have quite a sense of humor at that particular place of business. - WoW presentation by Joi Ito at 23C3
Joi Ito does a presentation on how World of Warcraft is a great tool for learning project management, leadership, and cooperation. I know, I would have called him a loser right away too. But the presentation is actually pretty informative. Although, when you break it down, its still nerdy as hell.
Look for these weekly wrap-ups of interesting links at the end of each week!

that post-it car rocks…lol
Dawn: I wonder how long it took them to do that.
Great post.
I have personal connections to several of these.
Illicit Ohio:
–My aunt and uncle used to live about a block from Chippewa Lake. I remember the amusement par well. We used to go swimming there every summer.
Fantasy Farm:
–This was the first amusement park my daughter ever went to. We used to take her on the kiddie rides and have picnis there.
Boneyard:
Here’s a pretty comprehensive closeup view of the place: http://www.amarcexperience.com/Default.asp. It is one of the few government departments that actually makes more than in cost to run the place. I’ve flown on about several of the aircraft that are there. It’s an interesting place to visit too.
Thanks for the mammaries…er, memories.
I love that Post-It-Note Jag! I need to do that one day as a prank.
Poobah: Awesome! I can’t believe its that small of a world. And is it a little eerie to see abandoned pictures of the places you’ve been to?
Thanks for the link to the Boneyard website. I was wondering what the story was behind that.
minijonb: Just make sure your rich boss has a sense of humor first!
It’s crazy how strategically placed those planes are.
And I’d LOVE to do that post-it thing to my boss, but he drives a Hummer. I’d be there all week.
And speaking of hummer, I can’t BELIEVE that you check out the bird watching website. Hmmm…………..
Not eerie, more melancholy.
And the world is small. I once ran into my college housemate on the street in Seoul, Korea about five years after we’d lost touch.
That? THAT was eerie.
That Co2 vid was awesome!
I like the Silent Hill Park also. kewel.
The Post-It Note Jaguar is on the home page of ABCNews.com!
That Post-It Note Jaguar is amazing. I hope the adhesive didn’t strip any of his paint.
Who knew a Preying Mantis could be so deadly?
April: The planes made me think of micro-machines all lined up in someone’s driveway. And as for checking out the bird watching web site, it was only for the praying mantis pictures… I swear!
Poobah: OK, running into your college room mate half-way across the world IS pretty eerie.
MacBros: That video makes me want to perform dangerous experiments in someone else’s pool!
bobo: Ha! I knew I was a news breaker!
Phoenix: That’s a great question… I wonder if all the adhesive did any “damage” to his car. Those luxury car drivers can be sticklers for how shiny their ride is.
