Mama Said There’d Be Days Like This
I’m not sure why things are funny sometimes. There have been moments in my life where I find things incredibly humorous, which of course is completely tasteless at the time. Let’s take, for instance, when I saw a girl fall on some steps and spill her big cup of soda all over the carpet. This was in a semi-public place, a dorm, so I wasn’t the only one who saw. I managed to ask her if she was ok without even smirking. Although inside I was cracking up. Hell, I’m the first one to laugh when I trip… and not just to try and act cool either. I genuinely find it funny that I tripped. But let’s delve a little deeper into this.
Take this photo for example. I have no idea why it rates a 10 out of 10 on the funny scale for me. Of course the little kids probably got scraped up a little, and it probably wasn’t half as funny watching it actually happen. But because this little split second in time was caught on film, we are now blessed enough to laugh at their misfortune. I mean, c’mon. The only things in the picture that are in motion are the two kids and the dog. You couldn’t have photoshopped something better. The one lady that sees what’s going on has only begun to realize the hilarity of the situation.
So, now the real question is: am I an evil person because I find this amusing? Some of you might be thinking that, but deep down you want to laugh out loud right along with me. I think there’s some deep-wired circuit inside of all of us that causes us to laugh at others’ misfortunes. Hey, I’m not saying its right, but at least I get to laugh at pictures like these on a regular basis.

That picture IS funny…funny as hell. Don’t feel bad.
The picture is hilarious!
I would have laughed too and be quick about asking if they are alright. But seriously, how can you not laugh. Don’t feel bad we all do it.
Yes, it is a little sad that the kids got a little banged up, but come on! That pictures is laugh-out-loud funny!
Oh, I don’t feel bad… :)
I’m with you on that. Seeing somebody fall down is hysterical, and that opinion doesn’t change even if I happen to be the faller downer. It’s just plain funny.
I like how you harvested that kid’s photo from your recovered stolen property, and now use it to represent yourself. That also is very funny!
