Rebirth of Slick

[photopress:babyoctopus.jpg, thumb, alignright] Ok, ok… it’s been quite a while since my last post. And according to my records, I haven’t gone over a week without posting since the beginning of December 2005. And that was only seven days. It’s been eight days since I wrote about the mis-directed bitch who has too much time on her hands.

Is there a reason I’ve been relatively incommunicado? Well, for those of you who even care, yes there was. It was just a combination of a few things that caused me to put the blog on the back burner for a few days. After all, I can’t be my chipper and happy-go-lucky self every day! Pressure at work, personal hygiene issues, an increasingly itchy rash at the base of my balls, and a realization that you can make friends by picking ear wax all contributed to my blog posting no-show.

As this post is titled ‘Rebirth of Slick‘ after the song of the same name by Digable Planets, I’d like to create as much imagery as possible that might remind you readers of the birthing process. Actually, I’m kidding. Child birth is beautiful and all, but I’m going to refrain from mentioning its oooey-gooey goodness today.

I will, however, mention the two tags I have yet to finish, but which promise to be pretty interesting and/or funny once I get them done. The first one, from JJ at The Churning, was originally started to celebrate the First Amendment in retaliation to the Mohammed Cartoon Contraversy. So that goes to show you how long I’ve been hanging on to this one. The second one, from Erech at MURDERSHOWDOTNET, is relatively new, so I don’t feel that bad that I haven’t finished it yet. For this one I’m supposed to create a mix of 5 songs that have been out in the last 2 years and then host it for download. Both of these tags are actually pretty unique and have the potential to turn out pretty cool, so I’m really looking forward to getting them done. Until then, eat some baby octopus!

I once ordered a baby octopus appetizer at a Thai restaurant. I expected one or two pieces. But instead I got an entire bowl of tiny octopi, each fully intact. I ate a couple of them and was baffled. They were chewy, I could feel their tentacles and suction cup thingies on my tongue, and they were cold and raw. Not pleasant.

My other baby octopus story took place at a sushi restaurant. I ordered the dirty squid martini. It was just like a regular martini, but instead of an olive, it had a baby squid sitting there in the bottom of the glass and instead of olive juice, it had squid ink so it was completely black.

Well I’m glad you’re not dead in a ditch somewhere. You could have called…

I must know what the deal was with that poor octopus, man. What gives???

I love baby octopi deep fried and battered…oooops…I mean in batter.

Yeah, that meme is all just me being a greedy bastard and wanting to hear cool new music. And if not new, at least cool mixtaped musics. You and Eric should make the kickass ones, I figure, so it’s all win win.

    In short, DO IT ;)

JJ: Mmmmmm… I like the baby squid martini idea. I wonder if I’ll be able to find that somewhere around here.

Robguy: Hahaha! You had me laughing at that one…

nicole: It was just some baby octopus dish they had at a Chinese Buffet here in town. I was trying to gross my girlfriend out with it, and then I made her take a picture with my phone.

Phoenix: There’s not some weird side to the Phoenix that us fans need to know about is there?

Erech: Oh I’ll definitely DO IT. Although I need to ask you how you formatted yours to keep each songs info in the large file.

Poobah: Hmmm, Peanut butter huh? Actually anything to hide the texture of the things would be an improvement.

lisa: Thanks! And it I didn’t eat the whole thing… it was just way too chewy for me.

I used soundtrack pro to slap em together, then exported the file and use podcaster to set up the chapters etc. You can probably use Acid for a PC, or some other program out there thats simple as well, download.com probably has something, yeah?
