It’s a Fark, Fark World…
I listened to a voicemail this morning from my brother. Apparently he was at Trump’s(a bar and grill) last night and ran into someone who looked pretty familiar. He asks the guy his name and he says Drew Curtis. Now for those of you who don’t know, that’s the guy who first started Fark.com. Of course its a great site to get weird and (basically irrelevant) news. I think the ‘Photoshop Contests’ are actually the best part about the site, generating all types of creative and hilarious entries.
But that’s beside the point. I think its hilarious that my brother could just run into him here in my home town, out at some regular joint that has weekly trivia and serves hot wings. Not that the guy has let psuedo-fame go to his head or anything, he seems pretty down to earth. And its not like its unusual for him to be here in KY, he lives 20 miles away from me.
He’s not some teen age heart throb either. But that is what’s kind of interesting about his “status”. If you ask anyone involved with technology and the aggregation of content on the internet, they undoubtedly know exactly who Drew Curtis is. He’s been to many conventions, meetings, and par-lays in Silicon Valley; been interviewed on Network and Television Stations alike. Yet, I wouldn’t really say he’s more intelligent or better looking than, say, a guy like me is. But what he did have was an idea.
An idea that apparently really took off in this little sphere called cyberspace. So until I can hatch my first million-dollar idea, I’ll have to settle for my brother meeting someone who’s kinda-sorta-psuedo famous at one of the local Bar & Grills.

That’s pretty cool. I was in Milaukee last week on business and had an appointment with a guy whose son is the senior editor of The Onion.
Does he know how many people have taken stories written in the Onion as fact?
Of course that used to happen a lot more often when it first started, by I still get an email every once in a while saying “Did you read this article? Amazing!”
I read Fark all the time and occasional submit stuff in the photoshop conest.
“kinda-sorta-psuedo famous” ???
Drew rocks! I’d would totally rather meet him than someone like the dude who played Ross on Friends.
Yeah, Drew does rock… I had to make sure I tempered my comments so you all didn’t think I busted a nut just because my brother ran into Mr. Drew Curtis.
