Today’s Reason to be Embarrased

I just bought Justin Timberlake’s new track “SexyBack” on iTunes. Somebody please shoot me. Next thing you know, I’ll be wishing Aaron Carter will have a successful rap career.

I think I bought it because I’ve been singing the damn song to my girlfriend every morning for the last week in my best Kip/Big Gay Al voice. I’ve even annoyed the hell out of myself.

    I love that freakin song!

Dawn: The song’s only saving grace is that it was produced by Timbaland… but I still feel all funny inside paying $.99 for it on iTunes.

Be proud of me for not even knowing what that song SOUNDS like.

But seriously, how did you get embroiled in that mess?? What station are you listening to that plays it all the time?

Could a K-Fed Greatest Hit compilation be far behind?

This is sad news indeed. But I understand how it could happen — you get a catchy hook in your head, and it’s hard to purge it until you hear the real thing too many times. Probably worth $0.99.

nicole: Damn it… don’t hate me! I just flip on MTV in the morning while I’m getting ready and they seem to play that damn video at least once every morning. I can’t help it!

Poobah: I will definitely NOT sink to depths so low… I do have SOME standards.

shane: Don’t judge me, it’s not my fault.

David: Finally! Someone who understands my plight! That’s exactly my problem, I can’t get the damn song out of my head. And I’m proud to say that since I bought the damn thing and listened to it, I haven’t hummed it to myself NEARLY as often.

Hey…mojo…next time, just ask me first, okay?

  • mojotek

Dedd: So you’d put me out of my misery? You’re way too kind.

That ’s how you get rid of “earworms.” Otherwise, your brain keeps singing the song over and over again because the song is incomplete. By listening to the entire song, you close that loop and it won’t be so stuck in your head.

You gotta do what you gotta do.

  • mojotek

Phoenix: So what you’re saying is, I’ve still got a chance to redeem myself? OK great… I’ll let everyone know when I don’t have to sing this song in my head anymore.

  • Janet

Mark my words. JT will take over the world, one straight white boy at a time.

  • mojotek

    Janet: God I hope you’re wrong…

Xav - is this the real story behind your missing ipod? http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=11211166&sid=1

I really liked Justin a lot better when he was singing with nsync. They were pretty electronically conditioned then, but now you can’t even recognize his voice… maybe his nads dropped?

  • mojotek

Rob: I almost wish that was the case… at least I would have had a chance to get my ipod back. And Timberlake’s voice is definitely all screwed up on this song… sounds like he’s singing through a fan.

  • One Year Anniversary · Gangstas & Hugs

[...] Well technically, the one year anniversary of Gangstas & Hugs was August 24th, but who’s counting? Its been an interesting year. And things have changed quite a bit from August 24, 2005. First of all, I wish I had saved screen shots of the old themes and templates the blog used to have. Some of those first ones I went with were just crap. But hey, everybody’s gotta start somewhere, right? [...]
