What’s on my iPod right now…

To start off with, I was very surprised and pleased when I found out the last post I submitted to reddit.com ended up staying on the front page for quite a while (and still might be there). Of course I can’t take real credit for the post being popular, since it’s just a cool video, not any of my witty and sarcastic writing.

I’ve been tagged by JJ and Helen, but since JJ did it first I’m just gonna tackle that one in this post.

Here are the directions:

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your blog along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they’re listening to.

I like how JJ did it, by posting lyrics underneath each song name, hence I’m going to copy him… again. So let’s get this list on the road:

  1. Check On It - Beyonce & Slim Thug: I love it when she shakes that thang.
Ohh Boy you looking like you like what you see
Won’t you come over and check up on it, I’ma let you work up on it
Ladies let em check up on it, watch it while he check up on it
Dip it, pop it, twirk it, stop it, check on me tonight

  2. Kryptonite - Purple Ribbon All-Stars, feat. Big Boi & Killer Mike: I don’t know why, but the hook on this song is really addicting. Plus, I smell dro all on you homes.
Time an’ time again I turn back round an’ tell C-Bone
Grab kurl on out my book bag, I smell dro’ all on you homes
Suppose the po-po get whiff of the spliff dat you just smoke, dem folk gon trip
Probably will cause canines, move it the side of the road lets take a sniff (arff)

  3. Lump - Presidents of the United States: She’s in my head.
Lump lingered last in line for brains
and the one she got was sorta rotten and insane
Small things so sad that birds could land
Is lump fast asleep or rockin’ out with the band?

  4. Blue Orchid - The White Stripes: I think the music video is what really got me liking this song.
    Something better than nothing
Something better than nothing, it’s giving up
We all need to do something
Try keep the truth from showing up

  5. Blood is Pumping - Voodoo & Serano: Techno anyone?
    None to speak of…

  6. Dance, Dance - Fall Out Boy: Again, the video is funny and kind of addicting.
She says she’s no good with words but I’m worse
    Barely stuttered out
“A joke of a romantic” or stuck to my tongue
Weighed down with words too over-dramatic
Tonight it’s “it can’t get much worse”
Vs. “no one should ever feel like..”

  7. Drive Slow - Kanye West, feat. Paul Wall & GLC: Yes, a little gangsta even for my taste… but it’s still got a good hook.
    Drive slow homey
Turn your hazard lights on when you see them hoes
    Drive slow homey
If you ridin around the city with nowhere to go
    Drive slow homey
Live today cuz tomorrow you never know
Ya never know homey might meet some hoes homey
Ya need to pump your brakes and drive slow homey

And now the seven I’m tagging

Of course no one should ever really feel obligated to participate, I promise I won’t be offended:
1.) ngregory00 of NicoleMART (I know, I always tag you)
2.) eric of BadTofu (Again, I know I always do this.)
3.) Laurie of Stranded in Suburbia (Maybe the first time I’ve tagged you, but it won’t be the last)
4.) Riss of Tequila Shots for the Soul (There’s a first time for everything.)
5.) Helen of Just Playin’ (but seriously, folks) (Ha! Tag me and I’ll tag you back! :))
6.) David Amulet of The Musings of David Amulet (Sorry, guy. Seems like I’m dumping on everyone.)
7.) Kat of KATastrophe (See what happens when you stop by and leave a comment :).)

    Interesting list!

Cool meme, too… but then, I like anything music related. I just got a new iPod nano yesterday, I love it!!

  • mojotek

Uh oh Laurie… I think you got yourself tagged! I didn’t realize that JJ had already gotten April, so I had to take her off the list. I hope you really do think it’s cool! :)

  • Helen

Ha! I’ve done the same thing before. One good tag deserves another, hey? I’ll get on it.
    Peace……………………

  • mojotek

Helen: Good. I’m glad you’re not pissed.

  • ngregory00

Wait, you’re listening to “Check On It,” Mojo? Are you a secret Beyonce-lover TOO???

Neh, you don’t keep things like this secret. You put them right out in the open.

Okay, lemme get started on this, my 411th tag since the year started. ;)

  • badTOFU [dot] com - whats on my ipod now…

[...] Seems I got tagged by Mojo the other day, so lets get down to business. This one actually isn’t too hard at all considering 90% of my day I’m listening to music. [...]

  • eric

lol if not for her videos i’m sure mojo wouldn’t give a flyin drop kick who beyonce was. oh and i finished the tag

  • Dawn (webmiztris)

i LOVE white stripes…anything by White Stripes!

that beyonce is pretty good too…

  • David Amulet

Thanks for the offer, but sorry, no can do. I stated my unwilingness to play tag any longer back in January on my site (”Musings on Being Tagged”) … I return your tag to you in its original condition for a refund.

However, I am flattered, so I will give you a big thanks for the effort–and a few songs that actually are in my head today, for no apprent reason:

    Moby, “Machette”
    Van Halen, “Everybody Wants Some”
    Men At Work, “Overkill”
    Chumbawumba, “Tubthumping”
    Gorillaz, “Feelgood Inc.”

    – david

  • Frodo Corleone

Slim Thug and Fall Out Boy on the same list? I like it. Kryptonite is bangin’. I approve!

  • mojotek

nicole: Yes… I guess I am. Although I don’t think I can hide it any longer. I will admit that she needs to stick to the music videos though and stay out of movies. And thanks for having a sense of humor about the tag… I actually think this one is kind of fun since almost everyone is listening to music during their day.
    ———–

eric: Actually I think you may be on to something there. No videos = useless R&B songs.
    ———-

Dawn: I do love me some White Stripes… Seven Nation Army is probably my favorite.
    ———-

David: Well, it’s more than I expected anyone to do, so thanks for laying them out here… I like every one on your list. Except maybe for tubthumping… I think if I had that in my head all day I might have to head home from work early. The song still holds a special place in my heart, but I can only stand it for about 10-15 seconds at a time.
    ———

Frodo: If I had been tagged last week, I would have had a little Sinatra and Beethoven thrown in too… But alas, this week I’ve just been feelin’ a little ghetto.

  • JJ

No one commented on the amazing artistry of Lump?!?!

Come on people! she’s lump she’s lump she’s in my head she’s lump she’s lump she’s lump she might be dead.

    That song is pure genius!

Ummm… okay, there’s a little sarcasm in my comment, but I really do like that song. It’s uber-catchy.

  • mojotek

JJ: I’m glad you concur… it played on my iTunes the other day randomly, and it stuck in my head so I had to listen to it over and over again.
