As we approached the house, the guys were all in the bushes, dressed as ninjas and they came creeping out. Scared the bejabbers (yes, bejabbers) out of me. The costumes were effective. The first, at UK, I went as Jesus. I had a (real) beard and long hair, bedsheet robe, some sandles, and a 6 ft cross knocked together with 4X4s. But the topper was my crown of thorns. A little fake vine, some surgical tubing, some fake blood, and that sucker bled! The cross was a little unwieldy at the keg, but style over susbstance does it at times like that. The second was when Reagan was President. I went in a business suit and a full head, crazy rubber Reagan mask topped with a grey suit and tie. My wife went as a bag of jelly beans made from a drycleaning bag filled with her and lots of balloons. My schtick ws to stick my tongue out of the mask and wiggle it around ala Gene Simmons. Not nearly as cinematic as Jesus, but it scared way more people than the fake blood. Besides, we came in second in a contest where a fake Michael Jackson (at about the 3 facelift stage) kept moonwalking everywhere. Sadly, no pictures of either even survived. I think I drunkenly dropped them in the toilet at one of the parties. I’ve only been to two Halloween parties.
