Blog Outage

It appears the blog was down from about 2PM until either 4 or 5PM today. I’m not sure what the problem was, because I couldn’t even access my host provider’s web site to submit a service request. I checked the network logs for the company and they don’t list any problems even though their entire web site was down too.

EDIT (1/11/06): Tech Support finally got back to me. I’ll have to make sure I keep their email address and phone number with me from now on, in case I can’t get through to their web site again.

We apologize for the inconvenience. We had multiple server outage(sic) that cause(sic) all of the sites including globat.com to be down. We already have fixed this isue(sic) and your site should be working now.

Thank you for your patience.

I know she probably wrote it very quickly, but a simple once-over wouldn’t have hurt would it?

Yeah, no one is 100% crash-proof.

yeah I tried earlier. Thought you’d gone.

JJ: Yeah… but they’re usually pretty helpful if I can get ahold of a person, and usually that isn’t that hard either, except I was too lazy to keep their tech support number and email on hand myself, so when the site went down too, I was SOL.

The Phoenix: Definitely not. It’s amazing that some hosting companies (not mine) will advertise “99% Uptime!” when that just means your site will be down for an hour out of every 4 or 5 days, which is crap. I’d take 99.99% uptime though.

Ben Heller: Well, I’m certianly glad you made it back and didn’t count me out Ben!
