Webcams Into the Unknown 2

Well, it turns out I was a little obsessed with this unsecured network camera phenomenon. I’ve found a few more cool cameras that are working, but before I share them I wanted to address something Nicole of NicoleMART said in a comment on my first post about these cameras.

She said she couldn’t see the camera’s feed for “Cat’s on a Bed”. I tried it again after I read that and it was also the ‘blue screen of death’ for me. Then I found something someone wrote in a comment on the Digg post:

I’ve been watching this cat cam on and off for close to a year now. I’m always interested in what that are doing, but I have yet to see their owner. There are very specific times when the cam is just plain turned off, and times when it seems to be covered up by a hazed glass, so there must be someone living there or at least visiting often.

So hopefully its just not functioning because its a particular time of day. Here’s a hilarious screenshot of one the cats having his way with another on top of the bed (I wish I had taken this):

Here are a few more good ones I’ve found:

  1. Redneck Office - I only call it a redneck office because the first time I loaded it up there was an overweight middle-aged guy sitting at the main desk talking on the phone with a camoflauge trucker hat on.
  2. Japanese Laundromat - What’s so interesting about this? I don’t know. But if I can ever figure out what time people in Japan’s time zone wash clothes, then I’ll tell you.
  3. Hobo Square - I’m guessing this is also in Japan or a large city in Asia just because its noon here and the middle of the night over there. A surprising number of homeless are sleeping out in the open at the bottom of the square (no boxes or anything).
  4. Hot Rods R Us - A mechanics shop with a good number of Trans Ams and Camaros up on the lifts.
  5. Driving Range - Watch how many hooks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.

If you’re getting as interested in real-time voyeurism from your laptop, then you might want to check out John Bokma’s Security webcam hunting with Google. Have fun, and if you find any naughty cams I hope you know you have to give me credit and send me any screen shots you have.

Wait, you mean one of MY comments inspired part of your POST? Do you know how psyched I am right now???

Oooooooo! I can see the kitties now! You’ve made my day, Mojo…

Okay, I’m incredibly dumb. I thought I was looking at the webcam feed when I’d actually just clicked on a larger version of the image in your post.

I’m obviously a great candidate for an assisted living community.

    Mike: Thanks I guess…

Phoenix: I actually caught it with people in it. It was at 2am here though…

nicole: Haha! To tell you the truth… I did that when I was posting this one. I thought it was working again.

mulk: :) Yup, this ‘priorities’ thing sucks…
