The Simpsons Movie: Funny, but I hate child laughter

I saw “The Simpsons” Friday night. We arrived twenty five minutes early, which is unusual for me. Usually I’m ecstatic if I can actually make it to opening night for a movie in time to get good seats. Turns out I wasn’t all that thrilled this time.
I failed to realize, when I decided to see [...]

Transformers: More than meets the eye

Have you ever wondered what it would be like for your favorite childhood toys to become life-like and start shooting it up in real life? Well, after I watched Transformers this weekend, I knew what that felt like. When I first heard they were making the movie, I was all like, "Who's the director gonna [...]

Transporter 2: Just Too Much

I had the non-pleasure of watching Transporter 2 this weekend. See, the girlfriend is a bit of a Jason Statham fan, and as much as I hate to admit it, I really did like him in Snatch and Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels. That’s why she bought me Transporter 2 for Christmas. [...]

Frank Miller’s 300

I just watched the second trailer released for the upcoming film “300”, which is based off Frank Miller’s graphic novel of the same name. I swear I just creamed my pants. Both of the trailers gave me goose bumps. I saw the first one in a theater before a showing of Saw […]

Little Miss Sunshine

I just saw “Little Miss Sunshine” Friday night. It’s probably one of the best movies I’ve ever seen, I shit you not. I laughed a lot, I ‘almost’ cried, and I even peed my pants a little because the theatre where we saw it serves beer and I didn’t want to miss anything.

If [...]

Quote of the Day - It really was good, Troy.

Here’s another one of those post categories I warned you about. Quote of the Day is going to be just that, a quote that I deem worthy enough to garner so much attention on any particular day. It could come from anywhere: a movie, song lyrics, another blog’s post, the mouth of someone [...]

Movies I Saw This Weekend

I actually made use of Blockbuster this weekend for the purpose of renting movies. I know, I know. Call me old fashioned, but it seemed like there must have been a number a movies that I missed in the past 6 months that I should probably see. So the girlfriend and I went for it. Here they are in the order that I watched them:

Scanner Darkly

Erich over at Murdershow.net turned me on to this preview for ‘A Scanner Darkly’. It’s actually pretty cool. The movie is a blend of real life actors and cartoon/computer animation. The premise seems to be how drugs will be monitored and regulated in the future.

The Hills Have Eyes

Disclaimer: While I will not give away any real spoilers in this post, if you are one of those people that hates to know anything about a movie before you see it (like me) and you plan on seeing ‘The Hills Have Eyes‘, then you might want to think twice about reading any farther.
The hills do indeed have eyes. I saw this one on Saturday night, and man, I don’t think this horror-movie fan has ever seen a more disturbing film ever. I liked Saw, Saw II, SE7EN, Hostel and all those other semi-grotesque freaky-deaky flicks, and most of them even made me cringe. But none of them hold a candle to how really terrifying the remake of Wes Craven’s The Hills Have Eyes was.

Teacher Pulls a “Falta Muy Grande”

A high school teacher from my town here has pulled a major “uh oh”. He showed ‘The 40 Year Old Virgin’ to his Spanish class. I’m not sure if this guy was aware of of how much swearing and talk of drug use went on in this movie, or if he showed a spanish translation version and cuss words aren’t the same where he’s from.
