Performancing Partners

Performancing launched their beta Partners program yesterday, and I was cool enough to put Gangstas & Hugs on the list the day before that! The concept is pretty simple, and might work for some of us small to medium sized blogs. Here’s the low down, straight from Performancing:
Performancing Partners offers publishers a new, [...]

Webcams Into the Unknown 2

Well, it turns out I was a little obsessed with this unsecured network camera phenomenon. I’ve found a few more cool cameras that are working, but before I share them I wanted to address something Nicole of NicoleMART said in a comment on my first post about these cameras.

Webcams Into the Unknown

I was checking the feed for Diggdot.us last night and found this interesting submission via Digg. Apparently there’s a very easy google query you can enter to find unsecured webcams on the internet. I’m sure these only apply to a certain type of webcam, but the coolest part is that you can control most of them. Well, that is when every other teenage hacker in the world isn’t trying to gain control of it.

Laptop Envy

I routinely order new equipment and software for my organization, and usually I like doing it. Mainly because I get to order new stuff for me too, and since I’m a gadget freak that’s always nice. About the only time I don’t enjoy it is when I have to order someone else something [...]

Diggdot.us: More news for nerds

I was browsing around at Frappr today and found this interesting profile where you could use different colored map pins. The group it was for was ‘Diggdotus‘… not really that interesting in and of itself. But the web site sponsoring the group is actually pretty cool. It’s called Diggdot.us, and is a compilation of news stories for digg, slashdot, and del.icio.us/popular.

Blog Outage

It appears the blog was down from about 2PM until either 4 or 5PM today. I’m not sure what the problem was, because I couldn’t even access my host provider’s web site to submit a service request. I checked the network logs for the company and they don’t list any problems even though [...]

Justice on a Link

I was perusing over at Uncommon Sense and saw this link to a funny yet frustrating blog post. This guy, Kyle Bennet, who’s trying to run an online supplemental business via eBay, has one of his pictures used and hotlinked from another eBay auctioneer in the same town.

Blog Traffic Exchanges

Found a review of most of the blog traffic exchanges over at Happy Sam. I think I agree with his assessment of the top few traffic exchanges he has on his list, and now I’m going to have to check out the others I’m not currently using. Here’s his top 12 list with caveats:
“…heres how [...]

Displaying Blogger Images

Well, it’s finally fixed, and the remedy was quite simple actually. It had to do with a bug Internet Explorer has when displaying ‘floating’ objects using CSS. So all I had to do was add this bit of code to my template in the [style] section:
#main-column img {
position:relative;
}
Where you replace ‘#main-column’ with whatever id or [...]

Et tu, Template?

OK, it took quite a while… but I think I got the new template where I want it. For anyone who was actually reading the blog while I was testing and re-testing, I apologize for the screwiness (like people actually stop to read this on their surfing through BE, Blogazoo, or BlogClicker).
It’s just something a [...]
